Weekly Parent Newsletter – November 6, 2009
Attention All Parents: We want to thank all the parents who attended our Breakfast with the Principal on Friday, October 30th. We welcomed close to 150 parents. We discussed Extracurriculars at Bronx Science (clubs, teams, sports, ARISTA, community service). Many of our parents had questions on how their child can participate in extracurricular activities. When your child gets involved, it helps them to become more concerned about their school community and their own community. If your child shows an interest in becoming an ARISTA (Bronx Science's National Honor Society) student, which they can apply for in their junior year, please visit our ARISTA link at: http://www.bxscience.edu/arista_requirements.jsp for more information. Please encourage your child to participate in afterschool teams, sports, and/or clubs. Your child’s involvement in these activities can help them to be a well-rounded individual. For more information on the variety of clubs that Bronx Science has to offer, please go to: http://www.bxscience.edu/student_organization.jsp
Attention All Parents: Every child received an updated copy of their schedule in Official Class last week. Your child may have had SGI programmed into their schedule for 1 or more subjects. Please review your child’s schedule with your child. SGI is a mandatory class and attendance will be taken. SGI –Small Group Instruction is a class designed to help your child manage their academic performance and help them to be more successful. Please encourage your child to attend SGI when scheduled.
